A downloadable game for Windows

In Slimeball, play as one of three slimes battling in the Slimeball arena, each with unique abilities and playstyles. Based on the Table Tennis genre of games, but with a modern twist. The Warrior steps up to battle with their suite of defensive capabilities, and controls the pace of the game. The Wizard sneaks in with their array of abilities to confuse and confound the other player. Finally, the Barbarian crashes in with an aggressive playstyle that corners the opponent.

Slimeball is a game I created for my thesis on game symmetry. The game was built to be a research platform for my work, so there is some quirks which I will list below. If you want to check out the demo version I used for my project, feel free to play it here!

You can also check out my LinkedIn here.

SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  • The game is multiplayer only, so grab a friend to play with.
  • There was no friend-based matchmaking implemented in my project scope, so if you join a game while strangers are playing, you may end up playing with someone else.
  • There are bugs, bugs, and bugs. I am aware of a few issues that require game restarts.
  • Quick Play allows you to play against other people with the same random character, and showdown allows you to choose a character.
  • A lot of these assets were bought on itch.io or from free resource websites. The slimes and animations were made by me as well as a few of the sound effects. The music was written and composed by my friend Nick Ryan.

Currently, I am not continuing development on this game; I spent almost 2 years working on it and longer on this project so I just feel like I need to move on. I would however appreciate feedback on this project, I know its rough but I appreciate any criticisms that can help me improve (and understand how to handle lag better hahaha).
